Whitney Elizabeth Houston is the youngest of four children born in Newark, NJ on the 9th of August in 1963. Her parents are gospel singer Cissy Houston - n e Emily Lee Drinkard - and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney's cousin Dionne Warwick also was an international singer. When she was a kid she performed in the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark. When she was fifteen, Houston was singing professionally with backing vocals alongside her mother in Chaka Khan's song from 1978 Im Every Woman. After that, she began to perform backing vocals for Lou Rawls and Jermaine and her mother. In 1983, she was a part of the New York City funk-rock band Material employed her as the band's main vocalist. Their quality was what attracted her to major record label Arista. Whitney Houston, her debut album, released in 1985 was the top-selling debut album by any artist. Several singles from her album were hit, including The Greatest Love of All and Saving All My Love. The album was sold out of three million copies in its debut year in the US and went on to make 25 million copies worldwide, earning it the very first one of six Grammies. The album that followed it in 1987 Whitney that included hits What Do Broken Hearts Go and I Wanna Dance With Somebody built the foundation of her popularity, however it was the 1992 film The Bodyguard (1992) that made her one of the best-selling artists in history. While the film wasn't an instant hit nor was her performance, but the soundtrack of her Dolly Parton version I Will Always Love You hit the top spot on both the album and single charts in the US for a period of time. Her sales exceeded 44 million albums across the globe. In the same year, she got married to ex-New Edition star Bobby Brown with whom she has a single daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown in March 1993. In 1996, the drug use that has been extensively documented started.
Dana Bash also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz is an American reporter anchorwoman and political journalist for CNN. She also produces certain of the network's Sunday shows such for instance Evans & Novak' Late Edition as well as Inside Politics.'
