Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer well-known for his distinctive mix of soul gospel jazz R&B and R&B. She's performed on Broadway as well as during the Democratic National Convention and in clubs and festivals throughout Europe. Sunshine's given name is Denise White. Although she lives in Atlanta she was born in Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical path began at church, where she sang and played piano. In Atlanta she went to Spellman College where her musical education began in Atlanta's R&B Scene. The band was hired as the primary keyboardist in Tyler Perry's play Meet the Browns in 2005. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 for a position as Choral Director of Dreamgirls which was a stage production in Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine came to national attention during four daily shows at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was then invited to sing at the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
